Mark’em and Kill’em Kill Priority

The associations of the markings listed here  may vary per realm, server, guild, 5-man, 10-man, or 25-man, or even PUG. However, most players follow what is known below. As far as which crowd controlled mob is killed after the first kill? Leave that up to the person tanking. Most of the time he/she will choose the mob that will break out or time out of crowd control first.

  • Skull=Kill First
  • X=Kill Second
  • Circle=Shackle/Mind Control
  • Moon=Sheep
  • Square=Frost Trap
  • Triangle=Hex
  • Star=Sap
  • Diamond=Fear/Banish

But marking things takes time. It’s boring. Just kill them in a smart order. Just some of the reasons that players don’t mark. Then when the group wipe happens frustration and players dropping groups happens. That’s even more frustrating than just marking mobs to begin with.

As a hunter I am looking for the square unless the tank states otherwise. No square, no trap. Proceed at your own risk. I have Feign Death, Aspect of the Pack, Aspect of the Cheetah, and a pet to sacrifice  in order to make my way back to safety. Communicate people and things will be much easier.

  1. Yep, that’s pretty much the universal order, even server-to-server.

    If you don’t mark, better have a /assist focus macro to hit what the tank is hitting.
