Thank you Headless Horseman 2009

I would like to thank the Headless Horseman for donating to my cause of increasing my DPS (damage per second). I shot him so many times he handed over his Ring of Ghoulish Glee with pleasure. The reality is he just wanted me to leave him alone with his pumpkin army.

I replaced my Ring of Scarlet Shadows with the Ring of Ghoulish Delight for a few reasons. The Ring of Ghoulish Delight has better stats overall for me as a hunter.  Lets look a comparison:

Ring of Scarlet Shadows
Binds when equipped
Blue Socket
Socket Bonus: +8 Attack Power
Requires Level 78
Item Level 187
Equip: Improves hit rating by 38
Equip: Improves critical strike rating by 31
Equip: Increases attack power by 60.

Ring of Ghoulish Glee
Binds when picked up
+33 Agility
+50 Stamina
Requires Level 80
Item Level 200
Equip: Improves hit rating by 29
Equip: Improves critical strike rating by 36
Equip: Increases attack power by 100.

The Scarlet has the nice gem socket, but the socket is trumped by Ghoulish Glee’s +33 Agility and +50 Stamina. What we hunters are really interested in is the agility. Having the boost in agility ups just about all of our stats. The stamina is icing on the cake as it also translates to our pets getting some extra health.

The Ghoulish Glee does have less hit rating on it by 10. We had to give up something to get the other improvements. At max level with some gems, enchanting, or re-gearing the -10 hit should be easy to make up if you really need it. Swapping the rings put me 2 below my hit cap. It’s an easy fix for me when I want to fix it.

The Ghoulish Glee offers five more critical strike rating. It’s not a huge jump, but it is better than the Scarlet.

The Ghoulish Glee shines with the +100 Attack Power as compared to the Scarlet’s +60.

If you can get your hands on the Ghoulish Glee as an upgrade then by all means do so. You will not be disappointed.

Disclaimer: Thank you Wowhead for the stats on the rings.
